WMI is the leading maritime training Institute in Bangladesh. Previously, founded as AMA in 2012 in a temporary campus, the academy has appeared as the WORLD MARITIME INSTITUTE (WMI) in its own permanent campus in Purbachal, Dhaka. It has the unique experience of providing training to as many as one thousands of maritime professionals for both onshore and offshore operations in the overseas countries.
World Maritime Institute (WMI) is a sister concern of MARINE Group approved by the Director General of Shipping, Ministry of Shipping, Govt of Bangladesh. Traditionally, as its maritime standard, it keeps in ISO 9001:2015 compliant by RINA.
The Institute currently undertakes six months Pre-sea Ratings Course training for Deck, Engine and Catering Branch of the merchant marine support level as ratings. The training is fully residential and regimental in nature. In training strict disciplinary codes are followed to ensure that our product is dedicated, obedient and submissive to their noble profession with due commitment. Besides, we have been involved in training marine personnel in various safety courses mandatory under the International Maritime Organization and STCW.

This course is designed to enhance the knowledge, skills and attitudes in overseeing restaurant operations in accordance with industry standards. It covers core competencies on operating a food outlet, preparing tenders for catering contracts, developing a food safety program and planning for coffee shop operations.
This course in intended for fresh trainees who have not previously served on board a ship to prepare them for working as engine ratings. This training, together with the Basic Safety Raining (STCW Code A-VI/1.2) and Company arranged Training will cover the mandatory minimum training requirement prescribed in Regulation VI/1 and II/4-2.2.2
